About Me Personal

How I Work

Below is a fun list of questions from a Praxis exercise. The goal is to explain how I organize my tasks, how I work, and a few random details about my life.

  • Location: Tampa, Florida.
  • Current gig: My airsoft company, Tacticorps LLC.
  • Current mobile device: Motorola Android Smartphone
  • Current computer: Custom-built Windows 10 PC (16GB RAM, Intel i7, GTX 1060, 1TB SSD, 2TB HD).
  • One word that best describes how you work: Methodically

What apps/software/tools can’t you live without?

Just about every Google product out there. I use Drive for organizing files that I need to access from any device, have made over 10 different Gmail accounts, and basically live in Google Sheets. It almost bothers me how dependent my work-flow is on Google, but hey, they make great products!

What’s your workspace like?

At home, my desk and the surrounding area is filled with symbols of patriotism. Flags on the wall, stickers on my PC, even my mousepad! At work, where I have much less creative freedom, my desk is tidy and organized. Although, I do have a custom made desktop wallpaper that helps make my workspace feel more like an extension of myself.

What’s your best time-saving trick?

Waking up early! Of coures it’s true that the earlier you get up, the earlier you have to go to bed; so you’re technically are awake for the same amount of time. But, when you get up at 4AM for example, there are ZERO distractions. The world is asleep; no one is emailing, texting, or tying to get your attention. I find that when there are no distractions present, I work much faster and save lots of time.

What’s your favorite to-do list manager?

I’ve tried lots, but my absolute favorite is Todoist! It’s a cross-platform life planner that is sort of a mix between Trello and Google Calendar. I started using it about a year ago, and it has greatly improved my life, so much so that I invested in a premium subscription. Couldn’t recommend it more!

Besides your phone and computer, what gadget can’t you live without?

My alarm clock! I find it hard to have a productive day unless I wake up at a scheduled time.

What everyday thing are you better at than anyone else?

Having a good day! Ever since embracing the “glass half full” mindset, I find it much harder to have a bad day. I sometimes think…out of the 7 billion + people on this planet, what would my net “score” be? I’m probably a lot luckier than most people on earth. It’s hard to have a bad day when you’re so grateful for the 24 hours in each one.

What are you currently reading?

7 Habits of Highly Effective People is next on my reading list. I’ve heard a lot about this book, so its about time I give it a read. I purchased an Audible subscription, so I read (listen to) a new book at least once a month.

What do you listen to while you work?

I have a few non-vocal playlists I made on Spotify to help me focus; those are my ‘go-to’. Recently, I’ve been listening to a lot of orchestral music.

Are you more of an introvert or an extrovert?

Extrovert! I much prefer working with people rather than alone. I do both quite often, but I notice that I always have more fun with a task when others are involved.

What’s your sleep routine like?

Very consistent. Ever since purchasing my OURA ring (an amazing sleep tracker that fits on your finger), I have been able to adjust my sleeping patterns quite effectively. I usually get 7-8 hours of sleep each night, and almost never get less than 6.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

When it comes to your own life, stop listening to what other people have to say. My parents, relatives, and just about every homeschool parent I knew thought that college was the “only way” for me. If not for this advice, perhaps I would have ended up being pressured into something I didn’t want to do, like a lot of modern college students are.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

If anyone is actually reading this, I hope you’re having a fantastic day. : )
