Unfortunately, I've reached the point where writing these updates feel like homework. I missed last week's post, but hey, better late than never, right?
These past two weeks have been insane, which is quite the contrast from my last post about having a "3-day work week". There were two main events that defined these past weeks.
First, I got to attend the 2019 Growth Marketers Conference at the Fairmont Hotel. Not only did I have a blast talking and networking with people in the industry, but I learned A LOT about marketing in general.
My favorite talk was by Katie Dombrowski, who gave some awesome insights into how advertising on Pinterest works. I have a client who's product I think would do really well on Pinterest, so I took down some comprehensive notes. All I have to do is convince my boss (and the client) that Pinterest is the right move. I'm confident that if I create a Pinterest campaign, it would perform well. However, our agency has never run Pinterest ads before, so this would be new territory.
Although I'd love to jump straight into strategizing for this Pinterest campaign idea, it's going to have to wait... The second event that defined this past week was our PPC director leaving the company.
I only knew him for 8 weeks, but he was a good friend, a great teacher, and probably the hardest working person at Upgrow. He will definitely be missed.
Big changes like this can devastate small companies. I'm already starting to feel the effects of our PPC director's absence. Remember what I wrote a few weeks ago about trying not to work for more than 10 hours a day? Yeah, I can kiss that dream goodbye now. Work is piling up quickly and I'm busier than ever. I just have to keep it together until we can hire some help.
This mixed feeling of stress + excitement is starting to become familiar to me. Let's see how long I can last.
